Yangoora Room

We have a room for young Aboriginal people and Elders to spend time yarning, and for counselling and health promotion.

A young person who is feeling troubled in their life is welcome to come here and use the iPads, relax in a safe place, and learn more about mental health programs and services that can help.

We aim to support life-long learning and deep listening in a safe ethical space. We respect a holistic mind, body and spiritual approach to health.

"Yangoora" is a Gunai Kurnai word for stringy bark..

This space/place is for you.
Yangoora belongs to country.
It has roots that are deep and strong.
It is connected to your Ancestors footprint.
Yangoora continues to give bark for shields, canoes and string.
You are like Yangoora – you belong to country.

Aunty Doris Paton

We thank the Gippsland Primary Health Care Network for their support and funding for this program.
We acknowledge the Gunai Kurnai people as the traditional custodians of this land, and we pay our respects to their elders.
